Prayer from August 26, 2016
Jesus,
Thank you for being the Truth.
You are a God of integrity.
Thank you that your Truth is real
and eternal
and good
and righteous
and just.
Thank you for your blood.
Forgive me for my pride and vanity,
my desire for control.
I ask you to cleanse me of all selfish unrighteousness
and judgmental words and thoughts.
Help me to also have your same integrity,
to not lie,
to not conceal.
Thank you for my family, my friends, and my church family.
I pray that those who don't know you would know you and love you.
Psalm 118:81-88 is my prayer today,
Do I hope and trust and pray with such longing for your salvation?
My foundation is God's Word.
Even in age or distress, we wait upon God.
His Word is our comfort, His salvation our delight.
Though we are dried up and crinkled,
though we are weary,
we do not stop trusting or following God.
How long must I endure suffering?
How long must I sit with this pain?
People who don't know You
or Your Word
will bring about harm.
Yet, God and His Word endure!
You, God, do not change
or twist
or betray.
Some will use a lie to justify harm,
but Your Word is truth and healing.
Even in the face of death,
we do not reject or forget God's Word!
Awaken me to new life,
not according to me
or my dedication
but rather according to
Your nature
Your lovingkindness
So that I may walk
in integrity
before You
and before man.
amen.
