Prayer for August 24, 2020

Lord,

Please give myself and my students peace and joy as we return to school: in-person, virtually, some fluctuating hybrid of the two.

I do feel overwhelmed by all that I cannot fix.
Yesterday, as I was running, you reminded me of some very important things.

You reminded me that I am not alone--your very Spirit is with me.
You reminded me that none of this is coincidental--you have me teaching the students you want me to teach.
You reminded me that you love me.
"Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the foods produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen or cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights." --Hab. 3:17-19
My circumstances are not quite so dire, yet you used those verses to remind me of what is true.

Thank you for the time with family this weekend.
May I approach tomorrow rejoicing.

amen.
