Prayer from June 06, 2019
Holy Spirit of the Living God,
Thank you, my God, that you don't simply make bad things good.
Rather, you make dead things alive.
For in Jesus, I am a new creation; the old has gone and the new has come.
Jesus, thank you that judgment and vengeance against evil and injustice belong to you.
You have the right to rule, for there is no other worthy.
I praise you for the mercy, love, and forgiveness offered to me through my belief in who you are and what your death on the cross means.
Thank you for the grace you give to me, for the seal of the Holy Spirit, who empowers me to conquer sin and reject temptation in my life.
And, who purifies my heart, mind, desires, instincts, words, and intentions.
Most importantly, thank you that this is not a result of any level or work of "goodness" on my part.
Me, myself, was worth your death to you--how great a love that you did lay down your life for me even before I considered you friend or Lord.
My God, I ask forgiveness for my self-absorption, for my fears that hinder my love, generosity, or witness to truth.
Holy Spirit, I ask that you would cultivate kindness and discretion of word in my life.
I ask for humility--may that be a hallmark of my character and my life.
My King,
I ask for continued creativity and direction as I write today and the rest of this summer.
What a fun time I had playing frisbee golf with other teachers yesterday!
Please continue to heal those who are dear to me.
amen.
