Prayer from April 04, 2012

Psalm 125:1
"Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever."

Father,

Thank you for this truth and promise.
You've been teaching me a lot about trust and anxiety.
You teach me to not be anxious about anything, but in everything, through prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, present my requests to you, Lord.

So here the honest truth:

I feel distant from you, and yet, strangely close.
Now, deep calls to deep, but I am so quick to forget you as the day goes on.
Thank you that you never leave or forsake me.
Thank you for your promise to guide us in Spirit and truth.

Jesus, thank you for being the Branch and for abiding in me as I abide in you.
Holy Spirit, counsel me today and fill me with you so that I'm not quick to forget.
I want to know you more.
My heart and my flesh cry out for the Living God.
You are my strength and my portion forever.

A second honesty:

Thank you, Lord, that you are my shield and my very great reward.
Thank you that even though the world fades, Jesus, you are the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Thank you that you will care for me even more than the lilies of the valley or the birds of the sky.
I'm anxious.
I have not been trusting you.
I ask for discipline and instruction in trust.
I ask for your provision.

Holy Spirit, may I be astounded by what you are doing in my life.
May I see how great you are and how small I am.

God, thank you for bringing your good work into completion, and thank you for the cross.
God, would you show us how we thirst for the Living Water and how we hunger for the Bread of Life.

Draw near, Lord.
We need you.

amen.
