"He will be the sure foundation for your times,
a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge;
the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure."
--Isaiah 33:6

Holy God,

Your Word affirms that You sit enthroned over the nations, that You are closer than my breath, that Your love endures forever, that You will return for us and not leave us as orphans, that You have made me a new creation, that Your promises will always be fulfilled

I cling to these truths today in the midst of disease and pandemic. I hurt to see so many infected, to witness (even from afar) so many deaths. I confess I battle fear, worry, and despair as I listen to the news or read social media. I had to limit my time watching and reading updates and articles and posts.

And, here I sit, tucked into my little bed, curled up safe, in my small sort of life, and I wonder, what can I do?

And, I pray for your mercy.

Yet, as your Word says,
"I would have despaired unless I have believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Be strong, and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD." --Psalm 27:13-14

Even still, I will give thanks for today:
The food and shelter and work you have provided.
My health and safety.
The health and safety of my family and friends.

Jesus, thank you.
Thank you for the cross.

Holy Spirit, help me to be a light that would point to Jesus in my work, in my writing, in my quiet moments, in my chaotic ones, too.

Amen.
