One More Year in the DR
The title about says it all.
I'm leaving in about a week for one more year in the Dominican Republic, working with CRU and the ministry on main university of UASD in Santo Domingo.
And finally, without further ado, I'd like to announce that
1) I'm at 100% support!
and
2) THANK YOU!
It's been fun to reconnect with friends, family and supporters and share about how God has worked in my life, in students' lives and in the Dominican Republic this past year, and I'm so thankful for the chance to return.
One cool thing about returning to a place is seeing the change in the small things. Change that you didn't think was possible before. Like this trail in Fayetteville I love to walk.
At the top of a small hill, there was a huge widespread valley, interspersed with trees and weedy vegetation. I remember seeing a sign last year for this area that read "Area of Restoration." Restoration was a bit of an understatement. "Miracle" would have been much more appropriate. Last year, I would walk and look out over this small valley to see the dry, dusty earth and the scraggly weeds and the browning trees from the devastating drought of last summer, and I would pray, "Lord, please, send the rain."
The Ozarks were still in a drought by the time I left for the Dominican Republic.
And yet, ten months later, here was the change I saw--
Same Ozarks. Same valley. Different year.
It reminded me about what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3:6-9:
And one of the best things about God is the growth is up to Him. It's the deposit and seal of the Holy Spirit when we receive Christ that makes us grow. All we can do is step out in faith, share the Gospel, trust God to be God, water the seeds through encouragement + discipleship and watch & pray as the daisies grow.

It reminded me about what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3:6-9:
I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building. All we get to do is plant the seeds of salvation by sharing about Christ and pray for their growth in full faith that God does great things. Miracles. Like taking a barren field of dust and turning it into a valley of daisies. Like taking an area of nothing and turning it into a whole lot of something. Like going from death to life. That kind of great.
