Behind the Times
One thing that is unfortunate about living overseas...any kind of technical difficulties take a long time to fix. My computer has been on the fritz this past month, so I am unfortunately writing this update from the comfort of my cute iPhone (so thankful my parents talked me into that upgrade before I left in September).
Take last Wednesday, for example.
Because of this fact, I would like to apologize in advance for any glaring typos, grammatical deficiencies or auto-correct mistakes. I wish I could say I was smarter than my phone, but...
Moving on.
Three weeks ago, we hosted our final group of US students- this time from California. And aside from the inherent blasphemy in their belief that McDonald's chicken strips were equivalent to the culinary genius of Chick Fil A, I was able to witness the Holy Spirit work through these 13 students in a mighty way. Around 25 students heard the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, and 5 made the decision to accept Him as their Savior and Lord.
I love that I serve a God who is so trustworthy that it's impossible for Him not to be faithful.
If we have died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him;
if we deny him, he also will deny us;
if we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself. 2 Timothy 2:12-13

I left the house with 2 Bible studies on the assurance of salvation found in Jesus. I returned home with zero. Talk about a cliffhanger!
The first study I gave to one of the Vida students, Irina, as she begins reaching out to some of the many contacts from the Vision Trips. Having never walked through one of these studies with a fellow student before, I was able to teach her how to use and share the study with others.
The second study I gave to a medicine student, Gina. Now, let me tell you about Gina. We had met up twice before, and on both occasions, I had the opportunity to share the Gospel. And on both occasions, she had told me she was going to go home and think about it.
So, I greeted Gina, under the full expectation of talking about what it means that we are saved by grace through faith when God surprised me once again.
"Karly, I prayed. I asked Jesus to come into my life and reign. I was at home and decided to pray."
Talk about joy to get to then walk through the assurance Jesus gives us in His Word on the certainty of our salvation in Him. To get to read Romans 8 with Gina and see the physical transformation on her face as she read that "there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
And, you know what it was I saw, clear as day, on her face?
It was freedom.
