Los Spring Breakers

I love last week.

First. I got to see some of my favorite people from my good ole Alma Mater (Go Cocks!), who came on a Spring Break trip to help the Vida Estudiantil movement and share about Jesus with students on campus.

Then. I got to translate for them as they shared the Gospel.

Finally. I got to experience God's miracles-- every. single. day.

All tuckered out from picking up the Spring Breakers

Over 44 students came to Vida Estudaintil at UTESA...
Last time, there were only 6 students who came!

So happy to see this sweet friend!
I was asked last Friday what my favorite part of that week had been, and I found the answer to be easy.

It was that Thursday at UTESA.

UTESA is a small private university in Santo Domingo that hosts about 4,000 students. I went there with about 15 American students and staff from the Spring Break trip, not really sure what to expect. In the past, I had gone with my STINT team to their Vida Estudiantil meeting, but we didn't have much opportunity to share the Gospel while we were there.

Needless to say, I was nervous.

So we roll in, and meet the lone student leader at the place where we will be hosting Vida Estudiantil. We divide the Americans up into groups to invite the Dominican students to the meeting. I stick back along with two others who were leading worship for the meeting. As they are practicing, I begin Soulerium (an image based survey about God and spirituality) with about 5 students. Within seconds, the two of the girls pick up the tune and join in the chorus. They move closer to the guitar. Minutes later, two other girls arrive to sing.

The meeting begins. The two American students and 4 Dominican students stand up in front of more than 44 UTESA students and start to praise Jesus.

And the other students chime in.

Singing--None but Jesus...Mighty to Save...How He Loves...Como Dijiste...

in Spanglish.

What a cool way to witness the glory and majesty of Jesus--how we are naturally drawn to God through the praise and worship of His Name
The heavens declare the glory of God;
    the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
    night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
    no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
    their words to the ends of the world.  --Psalm 19:1-4
Even if we do not worship God, creation will. It cannot be helped. He is our Savior and our Most High Lord. For He is good, and His love endures forever.
