Constitution Day (Monday, November 05)

Happy Constitution Day, Dominican Republic!

As of November 8th, I will have been living in Santo Domingo for two complete months.

Question: Does that make me Dominican yet?
Answer: Probs not.

Post-Sandy life here has been about the same as Pre-Sandy life.
Wake-up. Drink Coffee. Meet Students. Fall in Love with God. Speak/ Learn Spanish.

Playing Soulerium and sharing life at UASD.

Easily the best thing about a country is the people.
It's why I fell in love with Chile.
And why, I think, I ended up here

Lunchtime hangout with sweet Vida Estudiantil friends.

Here is maybe the second best thing about living in the Dominican Republic...THE BEACH.

Hanging out under the umbrella with my SPF 70.

We finally made it out to Playa Guayacanes this past weekend, and it only took us a minibus, a "guagua," and about 2 hours to get there (even though, technically, it's only 30 minutes away).

The Caribbean is stunning. There were palm trees lining the beach and the sand was white and crumbly between your toes and the water was that clear turquoise color that you think only happens in the movies, except that this time, make-believe is FOR REAL.

And I love when that happens.

xoxo,

kme
