Little Funnies and Tourist Moments
Today, I'm taking a break from introspection and spiritual thoughts to share the more light-hearted side of living in a foreign country. So, I've put together a list from the past few weeks of all of life's "Little Funnies" and my Tourist Moments up until now.
1. Getting stuck in the elevator with Shannon (video on the way!)
2. Learning the difference between monja (nun) and mona (monkey) from my language class homework:
"La mona trabaja en la catedral."
Translation: The female monkey works in the cathedral.
The class really enjoyed that one.
3. The things that come of out Ben Snow's mouth--
Shannon: Hey, Ben. Do you drink coffee?
Ben: Um, yeah, definitely. I think I've had like 9 cups my whole life. Totally.
Ben: You think the bugs here are fast too, though, right? Remember? When we saw them?
René: No.
Ben: Do y'all wanna have a race later tonight? You know, just to see who is faster?
Ben: What is this Pinterest you speak of? Oh, is it kind of like Show and Tell?
4. Spending the day learning how to make Arroz con Coco. It took about 4 hours to make, but was worth the wait.
5. This past week, we had time to visit La Plaza de la Bandera and snap pics from the roof of our church.
I can't get over those clouds. |
Tourist for a day. |
We're so Dominican with our parasol to block the sun. |
6. Locked Shannon, myself and our guest videographer / CRU intern Katie out of the apartment last Thursday...at 9:30 p.m...on a school night...because we wanted ice cream...wonderful.
7. Also, the fact that I still use the phrase "school-night." I mean, what's up with that, really?
8. Students are legit shocked that we don't eat hamburgers and pizza everyday in the U.S.
"What, you know how to cook?" --said every student on campus. ever.
xoxo,
kme
