Hurricane Sandy
My first-time hurricane thoughts:
1. Man, that's a lot of wind and rain.
2. Praise the Good Lord that it isn't too hot.
In essence, today is kind of like a "snow-day."
The university suspended classes for the day, and the electricity goes out every so often. But, we are safe and dry in our apartments, using the day to get caught up on blog posting, letter writing, mopping up the random leaks and general cleaning that gets over-looked in the rush of things.
Wringing out dishrags and towels after wiping up the leaky water. |
This does no justice to the sight and sound of the wind. |
Basically, I became really thankful of many things (water, lights, surge protectors, fans, towels, the goodies from my care package, safety, dry clothes, a secure apartment, clouds) that I often take for granted. Little things, I know, but I'm starting to think that those are the things that make life seem normal.
xoxo,
kme
