Where in the World?
That's what I thought when I found out I would be in the DR instead of the BA this next year.
I instantly performed an internet search. Thanks to Wikipedia, here's what I learned:

1. Santo Domingo was established in 1492 when Columbus sailed the ocean blue.
But, really, it's where he landed.
2. Everyone loves baseball, plays baseball, follows baseball, etc...
(I only just learned that there is no half-time in this sport...I'll fit in just fine.)
3. I will be speaking Spanish. PTL, people.
4. The university hosts over 100,000 students. Say whaaaa?!?
5. It's a honeymooner's paradise.
You know when people say, "Everything has a purpose" or "Everything happens for a reason"? What I think is most true is that God is sovereign. Almost every summer during college, I have planned out exactly what I want to do and where I want to be and what my experience would be like. Each time, God has sent me in the opposite direction in the best way possible.
Question: Was it perfection at the time of change?
Answer: No. Emphatically, no.
There were things I thought I needed that I didn't get. There were dreams I thought I had that were only a half-reality of what I actually got. Like artificial flavoring or a mirage.
I don't know why He picked for us the DR over the BA.
I want to know it. I hope I will learn it.
But, He did, and I am resolved to follow Christ, where(ever) in the world He leads.
"In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps." Proverbs 16:9
